- Sperm take two months to make. So the sperm that....ahem.....appears today was created two months ago.
- Eat zinc. It helps your sperm.
- You have to do it ten days before ovulation just to be on the safe side and should do it every other day up until ovulation.
- You will have most success if you do it consistently three times a week rather than just when you expect to be ovulating because women's cycles vary greatly.
- It is best to lay down for 8 hours after intercourse, however men produce the most sperm in the morning when their testosterone is the highest.
- Gravity works. You should elevate your hips to help those little spermies get to where they are going.
- Boy sperms swim faster but die quicker than the girls sperms, so if you want a baby girl you need to do it 2-4 days before ovulation, if you want a boy do it on the day of. This will increase your chances of producing the desired gender to 75%.
- It takes some sperm 3-5 days to travel to the egg, however the quickest make it there in 45 minutes. Many get lost or die on the way. Only a couple dozen make it all the way.
My attempt at taking the fear out of childbirth for myself and others (but mostly just myself).
I hadn't known my husband for more than two months before he started in on me to have a baby. His constant pestering lead to progressively harsher responses from me, starting from"eventually", "someday", "not me, not now", "leave me alone", to "have your own damn baby".
Last Spring something in me started to shift and I became more and more serious about the possibility of having a baby. After months of internal dialog, I finally gathered the courage to share the news with my husband who was expectedly ecstatic. (I haven't told the dogs yet - they are going to be devastated!)
Sharing the news with Loren, my husband, opened the flood gates and I finally started researching what to expect, what to eat, what to do to prepare, and what the birthing process would look like....which at first was pretty anxiety provoking, as I started out by watching "The Business of Being Born" (not recommended as a place to start).
Here I plan to document interesting, perception changing information I come across in what will be a successful journey towards a positive pregnancy and childbirth.
